Leifheit 37200 Cherrymat Cherrystone Remover
I never thought I’d ever use the phrase “rapid removal” in relation to pitting cherries but once I got my first look at this Cherrymat Stoner by Leifheit I knew it could be possible. The stainless steel plunger is what removes the pit with the cherry falling into the container. This is the tool I highly recommend if you have the need to process a high volume of cherries for an enormous cherry pie or just have a seasonal addiction to them like I do. In fact, Leifheit claims this cherry pitter will process up to 25-pounds of cherries in 60-minutes. For my money that is some serious pitting action. This product comes with a two-year warranty and is dishwasher safe.
OXO Good Grips Cherry Pitter
When I work in the kitchen I like to have everything I need within reach to make whatever project I’m working on just a bit easier. When it comes to pitting cherries that often means I end up wearing some of them or at least leaving behind a lot of cherry shrapnel on the countertop, floor, walls and ceiling. The OXO Good Grips pitter changes a lot of that with just one small design feature that makes this the cleanest tool in my kitchen drawer. They designed it with a removable splatter shield. The handheld pitter is 9-inches in length and has an extra large cherry holder to accommodate the monster cherries we find here in the Similkameen Valley of British Columbia Canada. The holder also has a recessed cup design to hold smaller cherries. Made from die-cast zinc and dishwasher safe, this tool is easy to use as it also has soft, comfortable non-slip handles. I rate this one high on my must-have list.
Souked Aluminum Cherry Pitter
When it comes to cherrystone removers the handheld design is still the single most popular choice in kitchens all over the world. This aluminum one made by Souked is no exception. Measuring 7.1-inches in length with a pit hole diameter of about 2-centimetres, this pitter can stand up to the test. It works like your standard plier-type cherry pit remover and has a handy locking clip at the end of the handle that keeps it closed for secure storage.
DII Cherry Pie Recipe, Red Gingham, Set of 2
When I was putting together the set of items for this blog post I thought, what is the point of sharing all I know about cherry pitters if I don’t include at least one cherry pie recipe? So I have turned to DII (Design Imports) for some help. They are a company that has created a number of different fashionable, fun and functional kitchen textiles, table linens, gifts and decorative accessories. Chances are you already have some of their products in your kitchen. What you probably don’t have is this set of two decorative kitchen towels with cherry pie recipes on them. You didn’t think I was going to give you my recipe, did you? These 100-percent cotton machine washable kitchen towels feature a cherry and pie print with red gingham print trim.
So as you can see, cherry pie season can be a fun time of year when you use the right tools for the job. These cherry pitters are my top picks.
