Sturdy Garden Kneeler Gardener Kneeling Pad & Cushion Seat, Knee Pad Seat
Let me tell you that I can’t stand spending hours bent over a row or six in the garden weeding, seeding or planting in our vegetable garden. It just is not going to happen so I usually pace myself and work for short periods of time during the cooler parts of the day. If I could get my husband to do some more work in the yard I wouldn’t need this handy kneeling pad but since he doesn’t, I have found a solution to a few of the problems I encounter in the garden. The Garden Kneeler is padded so it is comfortable on my knees, has high-quality steel tube construction so I can use the handles to help get back on my feet and if I want to use it as a seat, the padding is a comfortable alternative to sitting on a rock, log or tree stump. What makes it even better is that the complete pad/seat folds flat for easy storage in the shed with all the other gardening tools.
Zenport SH3205 4-Tier Versatile Mini Cold Frame Greenhouse
I have wanted a greenhouse in our yard for years. After years of wanting one I still don’t have my greenhouse but I did find a great alternative that works just fine for my small volume of plants. While this mini greenhouse by Zenport is designed for use in small sheltered spaces (think patios and balconies) it works just fine in the corner of my deck. It is made of sturdy tubular steel and has a green paint finish. What I like most about this kit is that it includes a waterproof cover that has a roll-up panel that is zippers open or closed so I can water plants or provide additional ventilation to by how much I open it. It sits 62-inches high and is 27-inches wide but because it is also 19-inches deep there is plenty of room to place various pots of plants and assorted small gardening tools.
Bosmere L831 Poly Tunnel Plant Row Cover, 10-Feet
Where we live in the Similkameen Valley of British Columbia we find a lot of wildlife in our backyard and vegetable garden. Usually it happens to be deer (they sleep in our yard all year long) but in prime planting and growing season it’s the yellow bellied marmots that seem to share yard space with the deer. We have tried all kinds of tricks to keep all of them out of the garden, short of throwing gardening tools at them, and I think I may have finally found the product that protects our garden from pests and weather. Bosmere created these tubes for use in gardens. Essentially it is a ten-foot long one-piece polyethylene tunnel that opens up like a long accordion and folds up when not in use. Drawstrings control the size of the opening at the ends to assist with ventilation and circulation. The hoop parts extend six inches into the ground to hold them in place when covering a row of plants or seeds. They are my newest secret weapon in my collection of gardening tools.
Bosmere N426 Raised Bed Connection Kit
In addition to waiting years for a greenhouse for my vegetable garden, I have waited as long for a set of raised beds for planting with my favourite gardening tools. One of the problems with raised beds is that they may not be put together properly at the corners and that is where you want them to be their strongest. Bosmere has devised a system of corner braces that make building raised beds easier resulting in stronger and longer lasting raised beds. The kit includes four corner joints, four ground stakes/extenders and a total of sixteen wood screws. All you need to supply is the lumber. The parts are all made from steel but are plastic coated to prevent rust development. This kit allows you to make the most professional looking raised beds even if you’ve never done it before.
As much as I love to use fresh produce from my vegetable garden as ingredients in some of my JamBusters! products, I just can’t spend all day, every day in the backyard and still make jams, jellies, salsas and hot sauces in the kitchen. That’s why I like using handy gardening tools that make the planting and growing part that much easier and enjoyable.
