The Numbers
Comparing October 2019 to October 2018, we have a fairly even apples-to-apples set of circumstances to calculate from. This month we vended a total of 8 dates, all of them at the Oliver Indoor Flea Market in Oliver, British Columbia. The vending dates a year ago were also 8 in total and again all at the Oliver Indoor Flea Market.
In the month just ending (October 2019) we sold a total of 145 jars of product. That compares to 91 jars sold a year ago. Our best sales day this month was October 5, 2019 with a total of 35 jars sold followed by our slowest sales day of the month with just 7 jars on the very next day. A year ago our top day with October 6, 2018 with 18 jars and October 14, 2018 was the low day with only 5 jars sold.
As for our year-to-date totals, at the end of October 2018 we had sold 1,175 jars of jam, jelly, salsa, etc. At the end of this month we sit at a grand total of 1,303 jars sold – an increase of 128. George, who keeps track of all the stats, says we have been hovering around the 100 jar per month difference in sales for the majority of 2019. He also says that if this pace keeps up, we will out sell our best year – 2018 – which saw us sell 1,446 jars in total. We are already over our 2017 total which was 1,265 jars.
A New Event, An Old Event
November 2019 will see two extra events on our vending schedule in addition to the regular weekends at the Oliver Indoor Flea Market. On November 10 we will be back at the Anarchist Mountain Rest Area east of Osoyoos, BC for our third time but for a new event for JamBusters! This is the Christmas Market On The Mountain which is a small indoor vending opportunity for us. There will be about a dozen vendors and we will be one of them. Sales figures at the two annual summer Market On The Mountain events we have attended encouraged us to try this one as well.
On November 30 we will once again participate in the annual Princeton & District Chamber of Commerce Craft Sale which will run in conjunction with the local Light-Up Celebration. This event is located inside the Princeton Legion in our hometown of Princeton, BC and will be our fourth visit to this event. It is usually a big day of sales for us and once again George will be the MC of the Light-Up Celebration hosted by the Town of Princeton that will take place at Veterans Square right next door to the Legion. These will be our last two non-Oliver vending events for 2019.
