Monthly Totals
This is George’s department. Our annual sales to the end of July 2018 totaled 691 jars for the year. For the same time period this year, we are at 805 jars sold. What is interesting to note is that last year we vended many more dates in July than this current month. In addition to 9 regular Saturday and Sunday market dates in Oliver in July 2018, we also attended the mid-week Chamber of Commerce Make It, Bake It, Grow It outdoor market twice in Princeton during the same month. In July 2019 we just vended 8 Saturday/Sunday dates in Oliver. The jars totals for the month of July were 106 (Oliver) + 23 (Princeton) for 129 sold in July 2018 compared to 121 (Oliver) in July 2019.
Best Days/Weekends
Our best single sales day in July 2018 was 21 jars sold at the first Chamber Make It, Bake It, Grow It market in Princeton on July 17, 2018. Our best day in the Oliver Indoor Flea Market that month was July 7, 2018 with 17 jars sold. As for July 2019, our best day of sales was July 14 where 31 jars were sold. Added to the 23 sold the previous day, we set a new all-time sales record for JamBusters! at the Oliver Indoor Flea Market of a 54 jar weekend. That beats the 2019 weekend record of 47 jars (March 2/3, 2019) and all-time Oliver Indoor Flea Market record of 49 jars sold (December 22/23, 2018).
Enjoying The Early Harvest
During the month, George and I were able to spend some time collecting fruit used in some of the JamBusters! products. We picked apricots from two different locations in Oliver (one orchard, one yard near the downtown), black currants in Princeton and yellow plums in a yard south of Penticton near Skaha Lake. We really enjoy being able to use fruit grown in the region as the main ingredients for all of the items I produce under the JamBusters! name. Thankfully I now have storage space with a fridge and freezer that has freed up our own fridge and freezer for food for us! Last year was funny in a way as what storage space we had was overtaken by stock for JamBusters! This year is totally different. I’m not used to having the house freezer full of household food…lol
Busy Months Ahead
August will see JamBusters! vending at two events outside of our normal Oliver Indoor Flea Market schedule – one we added from last year and a new one we just confirmed our attendance at last night (July 28, 2019). Then in September our biggest event of the year rolls around at the Similkameen Sizzle Pepper Festival in Keremeos, BC. Later in the year, in November, we have one more date and otherwise we can be found at the Oliver Indoor Flea Markets Saturdays from 8 AM – 3 PM and Sundays from 9 AM – 3 PM. We hope to see you at one of our vending dates!
