Here is the final part of a three-part Blog posting I've been working on regarding the criteria I use to determine what I consider a product worthy of becoming part of my JamBusters line. The whole idea for this series of posts came from a question from my hubby who was wondering what I look for before adding a new item to my product line. The first item is an interesting recipe for something unique but still not too wierd that it won't have a mass appeal for my customers. The second part was about the time needed to produce a product as I am still just a one person business. The third part of the process is probably one of the most fun elements leading to the creation of a JamBusters product and that is the name. My hubby, who has over 36 years of media/marketing experience under his belt and is a professional writer, has helped with the naming of many of my JamBusters products. In fact, he was the one who suggested I use JamBusters as my name. He has put a ton of effort into the branding of the products with names that are fun and paint a picture of sorts. For example, one of my first products was a spread made with bananas. He called it Bananarama Honey. He named my beet pickles You Can't Beet These Pickles. The idea is to make the product line sound fun and interesting just as much as the recipes are. Another important element of the final decision for adding something to the JamBusters line is the taste. A couple of items never made it to the shelves of our office simply because they just didn't taste as we expected. My thoughts are that if I'm going to put my brand on something, I want to be proud of the product because I put a lot of effort into them. If one doesn't taste as good as I want it to, we just don't include it in the JamBusters product line. I hope you have enjoyed these Blog posts and I will keep adding to them over the next few weeks. I have a video online that explains how I started JamBusters and it is located here --> http://youtu.be/4Vy-vNRe838. If you are looking for something different, stop by our storefront location at 226A Bridge Street in Princeton, British Columbia (in the Similkameen News Leader office) and pick up one of our unique jams, jellies, pickles, salsas, relishes or hot sauces.
